alerie Fry is the founder and driving force behind The Service Dog Team Academy. With certifications from the Karen Pryor Academy (KPA CTP), Animal Behavior College (ABCDT-L2), and the AKC — where she’s a certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator — Valerie brings a level of credentialed expertise that’s rare in the DFW dog training market. She’s also a certified CLASS (Canine Life And Social Skills) Evaluator and an active member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT).
Valerie’s training philosophy is rooted in science and built on trust. Every dog she works with — whether a family pet learning basic manners or a service dog in training working toward full public access — is treated as an individual. She doesn’t believe in one-size-fits-all programs, cookie-cutter commands, or aversive methods. She believes in understanding each dog, building a genuine working relationship, and creating results that last.
Her specialty is service dog training — specifically the structured pathway from foundational obedience through CGC certification, CGC Urban, and task-specific work. She has worked with handlers across a wide range of disabilities, including mobility impairments, PTSD, anxiety disorders, and medical alert needs. As an AKC CGC Evaluator, she administers the Canine Good Citizen test directly — so the dogs she trains are tested by the same trainer who prepared them, with no gap between preparation and evaluation.
Valerie is based in Rockwall, TX, and serves clients throughout the greater DFW area.
