Dallas's Certified Dog Training Team
Where Good Dogs Get Even BetterCertified Dog Training for Dallas Dogs and Their People
The Service Dog Team Academy is based in Rockwall, about 30 minutes east of downtown Dallas via I-30, and we work with Dallas families regularly across every program we offer — from puppy training and basic obedience through full service dog training. A lot of our Dallas clients live in apartments, townhomes, or HOA communities where leash manners, quiet-on-command, and calm greetings aren’t optional — they’re daily necessities. That’s exactly the kind of real-world reliability our training is built around.
Led by Valerie Fry and Keisha Tucker, every program uses certified, positive reinforcement methods — no e-collars, no prong collars, no corrections.
The Dallas Difference
Dallas is a big, dense city, and dog training here isn't the same as training a dog in a rural or suburban setting. Public access reliability, calm behavior around foot traffic, and comfort in elevators, shared hallways, and dog parks like Bark Park Central or the Katy Trail matter more here than almost anywhere else in the metroplex. We build our Dallas clients' training plans around that reality.
Valerie holds her KPA CTP, ABCDT-L2, AKC CGC Evaluator, and CLASS certifications. Keisha is also an AKC CGC Evaluator and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), a background that shapes how we support Dallas-area veterans and clients managing PTSD or anxiety through service dog training. Both administer AKC Canine Good Citizen testing directly — no need to find a separate evaluator once your dog is ready.

Dallas Families Trust Our 140+ Five-Star Reviews
Posted on Google Krystal Vaughn04/08/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would! Entrusting someone with your dog for an entire month is a big decision, but from the very beginning, I knew Samantha Jean was in amazing hands. During her boarding and training, she received exceptional care, and the transformation in her behavior was incredible. She came home more well-mannered, and responsive than I ever imagined. One thing that meant so much to me while Samantha Jean was away was the communication. Valerie and Keisha regularly FaceTimed me and sent videos of her training and daily progress, so I could see firsthand how well she was doing. Those updates gave me so much peace of mind and made being apart from her much easier. What truly sets them apart is their commitment to both the dogs and their owners. Once Samantha Jean’s onsite training was complete, they went above and beyond by picking me up from the airport, taking me to lunch, and spending that time doing one-on-one, face-to-face training with both of us. That hands-on instruction gave me the confidence to continue everything Samantha Jean had learned before they took us back to the airport. Even though we live far away, their support didn’t end when we left. They continue to offer follow-up training through FaceTime and Zoom, making sure we’re successful long after the initial training is over. That level of dedication and ongoing support is rare and shows how much they genuinely care about the dogs they train and the families they serve. If you’re looking for trainers who are knowledgeable, patient, caring, and truly invested in your dog’s long-term success, I cannot recommend Valerie and Keisha with The Service Dog Team Academy highly enough. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Samantha Jean and for giving us the tools and support to help her continue to thrive. We are forever grateful!Posted on Google Jana Pope11/07/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were very impressed with the care and training Lexi received during our time out of the country. The ladies at The Service Dog Team are very knowledgeable in what they do and have provided our family with lots of tips to help support our little one. Lexi had her first social training session at Home Depot today and loved it. She went right home and fell asleep on the couch without anything in her mouth. She is a tired and happy girl!🩷Posted on Google Caleb Reidlinger05/07/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This training has been a great experience for both my dog and me. It has helped us build confidence in public settings while teaching us how to better communicate and understand each other. We've both learned new skills, and the guidance has made training more enjoyable and effective. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to strengthen their bond with their dog while improving real-world behavior.Posted on Google Tammy Salinas25/06/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend the team, very professional & caring. The best part is their genuine passion for fur babies, it shows in the care and attention they give to every pet. Thank You All So Much!Posted on Google Billy James13/05/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kimberly has been working really hard on getting her service dog training in as she will be a service/task oriented dog for my wife. The service dog team academy is great. Keisha and Bailey have gone above and beyond to help us and Kimber learn what we need to accomplish this. Here are a few pictures of Kimber learning to not be reactive to her surroundings. The Service Dog Team Academy will answer your questions and help in any way possible. They helped with Kimber by taking her for a month after I broke my ankle and was unable to do anything and my wife couldn't work with her like she needed. They are a great team to have behind you and will support you in every way need we do. I highly recommend them for any training your dog my need. They are great.Posted on Google Tina James13/05/2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What Dallas Clients Ask Us
Answers to all your pressing questions about our services, our prices, and what to expect with your dog in one of our training programs.
Do you actually come to Dallas, or do I have to travel to Rockwall?
Both, depending on the program. In-home training sessions come directly to your Dallas home. Board & Train requires drop-off and pick-up at our Rockwall facility, about 30 minutes from most of Dallas via I-30. Group classes and public access training sessions are scheduled at locations that work for both sides.
Is dog training different for apartment or high-rise living?
Yes, and it’s something we specifically account for. Dogs living in apartments, high-rises, or dense HOA communities need reliable elevator behavior, calm hallway manners, and quiet-on-command skills that a dog in a suburban house with a yard may not need as urgently. We build these into training plans for Dallas clients as standard practice, not an add-on.
Do you train service dogs for Dallas residents?
Yes — service dog training is one of our core specialties. We work with Dallas handlers through the full training pathway: Board & Train foundation, weekly public training sessions, Canine Good Citizen certification, CGC Urban, and task-specific work. Under Texas law, Service Dogs in Training have full public access rights, so training can happen in real Dallas environments from early in the process.
How much does dog training cost in Dallas?
Our pricing is the same for all DFW clients regardless of city. Board & Train is $1,950 with a $200 deposit. In-Home Training runs $150 per session or discounted packages of 3 or 5 sessions. Service dog task training is $1,950 per 12-session package. See our full FAQ page for complete pricing details.
What makes The Service Dog Team Academy different from other Dallas trainers?
Both owners are certified AKC CGC Evaluators, meaning we administer official Canine Good Citizen testing directly rather than referring clients elsewhere. Co-owner Keisha Tucker is also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, which shapes how we support veterans and clients managing PTSD through service dog training. Every program uses positive reinforcement exclusively — no e-collars, no prong collars, no corrections.
Do you offer group classes near Dallas?
Yes. Group classes are available and provide valuable socialization and distraction training that’s especially useful for dogs living in busier, denser environments like Dallas. Contact us for the current schedule.
How do I get started?
